My Sims 4 save keeps me on the loading screen after leaving cas

I've stopped playing Sim 4 these past couple of months because of this bug that affected my favourite save file.

I was playing the save when I decided I wanted to enter the CAS menu, when I was done and was leaving the CAS, it kept me in the loading screen forever until I had to force close my game (losing all the progress I had made in CAS).

I tried to enter the save again and this time it refused to enter the game, leaving me in the loading screen forever once again. I have looked at multiple solutions. From clearing the game and origin cache to uninstalling or repairing it. I even tried removing my mods entirely and that still didn't work.

I tried moving my household into another lot and entering the save, which did work, but when I left the game and came back to the save file, I came back to the same problem.

This is the first time this has ever happened and I'm completely helpless in this situation. If anyone could help It would be greatly appreciated.

If there's any information I should provide, I will do so.

  • @kangaroonio Okay, we'll manage this a different way as you have nonremovable mods at the moment. Put that folder back (make sure you don't end up with two Mods folders or a folder called Mods inside the other one). Then go to Broken/Updated Mods and see what you can find from there that has an update or is known to be broken. Then see if the game will start for you.

  • @anitaededjo Is this the only household you're having issues with ?

If you try to load another household, does that work ?

Are you getting any lastexception files in your doc folder ?
  • hey, im having the same problem aswell, and i was hoping you could help me too? i get stuck on the loading screen after cas (same problem op was having), and loading another household doesnt work. ive seen old posts about trying to repair the game in origin but since they converted to ea i can't find any solutions..

Hi @kangaroonio Do you play with mods or custom content? If so, could you test what you can do if you drag your Mods folder to the desktop and delete the file called localthumbcache? (Don't save, though!)

@luthienrisingim pretty sure the game fails to even launch, i remove my mods folder and delete the file, and all that launches is a small rectangle in the top left corner of my monitor? (also yes i play w/ cc and mods)

Awesome! I'd suggest keeping that backup save just in case while you gradually readd content.
