Have you confirmed yet that it is a mod? Do a "vanilla" test: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop and rename it, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.
If that works, then it's a mod and you can start narrowing the culprit down. I'd begin that with the list of Previously Broken mods and CC.
