Not able to edit families

The only way to know if it's an outdated mod is to test for that, though you could first make sure you're updated for the patch before today's (see the list linked in START HERE). Also, check for known broken mods/types of mods in the pinned Broken and Updated Mods list. Maybe a colour UI mod is interfering?

For testing, please do this updated "vanilla" process:

1. In your save, select Game Options and turn Autosave completely off. Reminders is fine.
2. Exit
3. Rename your Mods folder
4. Delete the localthumbcache file
5. Start the game and load your save. If you had already exited, use Load to open your save, then turn Autosave off. 
6. Now try again.
