I just did the 50/50 method! So the issue only appeared when this mod was in the folder. But I didn't test the 'clear' game with just this mod only (so potentially it could also be some kind of a conflict, not sure about it though)
Have a look at this option: https://legacy.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/plantsim-bloodlines The creator actively maintains mods at the moment, and it might cover what you're looking for. I'll list the mod as broken. Please do post your issue on the mod site as well to let the creator know.
@DarkPower How odd! That's not one I've heard of. If you ever reproduce it and narrow it down, please let me and LMS both know!
