Option to follow my teen to Highschool, but stuck on the loading screen

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.93.146.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Highschool years, Discover University, Island living, Get To Work, Get Together, City Living, Seasons, Get famous, Snowy Escape, Werewolves, Vampires, Paranormal.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? i tried taking out every mod that could possible cause it, but still nothing is working. I don't know what to do and vie been trying to fix it for an hour. I've tried repairing and clearing cache. I also don't want to waste my time more by having to keep on re opening the game by moving mods in and out. If there is any solution i haven't done, please let me know
What happens when the bug occurs? I try to follow my teen sim to school, the pop up shows and i choose to follow them, then i just get stuck on the loading screen and i hear the music that plays when they get spawned there, but its stuck on the loading screen. I don't hear anything besides the game's background music. I've also waited a while at first for it to load, but it never did.
What do you expect to see? I should be able to join my teen sim to highschool and play with them
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I just really want to know if custom content in CAS can cause this or just what type of mod in general causes these type of things to happen. I removed all my mods and started fresh and it works, but id just really like to know what type of mods causes issues with loading in and specifically the highschool lot (i just got HSY today so this is my first time experiencing this issue)

  • Hi @lush0713

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Thank you for the recommendation, I ended up finding the broken file somehow, but I still have issues where sometimes when I save, it gets stuck on the saving screen. But I’ll try that once I get back on
