certain parts of my game (mostly buttons) are either missing or look strange. whats in the pictures is just an example of some of the mess ups

Outdated mod.
Create a new sims 4 folder in game in your documents and remove and back up all saves, cc, and script mods..your game looks like this because you are not up to date with cc mods or your PC might need more memory.
This looks like an outdated mod situation to me along with updated and correction to your PC and graphics card...post in bugs.

You can follow the broken mods thread to get notifications of updates to it, which are about daily but more often after a new patch.
