Re: Cannot play existing saves

Hi crinrict!

I have attached my LE. Just so you are aware, every time I would test the game, I would delete the following: cache folder if present, onlinethumbnailcache folder, avatarcache file, and localthumbcache files along with any LE files. This LE has no mods and I had the game generate a new mods folder. I cleared the cache files (listed above) and cleared the EA app cache before launching.

I hope you are doing well and I thank you so very much for all of the help you provide to all of us users.

@irishdragon7 Are you using continue or does load also not work ? When you were able to load the save, did you ever try a save as and save under a new name ?

    Hi crinrict,

When I first tried to play after the updates, I tried to resume my save but that resulted in an endless loading screen. Since then and after the updates, I am loading the game from the load menu. Because I have been trying different saves to find one to work, that has been the only way I have been getting into the game recently. I also did try a save as when I got into one of the games and then I exited, cleared out the LE and cache files, reloaded and tried to get into the newly created save. Same error occurred, although I do not believe I ever got the endless loading screen with the newly created save. But the LE was still getting generated. I have the original saves all backed up from before the patch, so I will try to just do a save and see if that works. I will let you know my results.

    Thanks again!

Okay, so I opened another previous save file (this is the one I use to do a 50/50, so only mods used are those for the creation of the sims themselves, so the lot itself does not have any mods or cc. I do not have my mods in the game for this test. I got the LE on my first entrance into the save. I hit save and exited. I attached the LE to this message. When I loaded into the game again (after clearing the cache files and moving out the LE), there was no LE generated, but my sims both had two birthdays in a row and death appeared, so apparently it sent them to their deaths.

Not sure if this LE will be helpful, but at least you can see another one that my game generates with no mods on a different save from the one I sent you earlier.

I admit with the rapid aging thing, I am nervous about trying this with my other saves. Thankfully, I have the originals all backed up so I can try it, but I would prefer not having to go back to game repair with the save files in the folder again if at all possible.

@irishdragon7 Do you using custom age settings normally ?

Did you also do the save as again ? Do you see anything happening in the game ?

Also, always make sure to turn off your game and restart before trying stuff on another save game.

    Hello crinrict,

I always completely exit out of the game and the EA app. I do not use any custom age mods. The only thing I can think of is that I do use UI cheats and will cheat back their ages at times. I could have done that with these sims when I had been playing them, before I saved them and put them in the testing save I used for this latest test. I just do not recall as it was a while back that I created this save for testing purposes alone. The rapid aging happened after I did the save, not the save as. I had gone in, saved and exited the game completely. I then removed the LE file and deleted the avatarcache, onlinecache folder, and localthumbcache. I then started the EA app, cleared that cache, and then went into the game. I opened the game using the load menu even though the main menu showed this save as the one to resume. I just went ahead and clicked load game and then selected this save. When the save loaded, I immediately started getting the pop ups about aging up and both sims started doing the age up animations going from young adult to adult and then adult to aging. It was when the grim reaper appeared that I exited without saving this time. While the game was going, I could not interrupt those actions with any commands to get them to sit or talk or anything, but that is probably due to the aging up and impending death. When I checked the sims folder, there was no LE.

So perhaps the aging has to do with the number of days coded for the sims themselves and if I try to use this save option for my other saves, when I put my mods back in, I can use the ui cheats to reset them to young adult?

I will be away from my computer for the rest of the day, just as an fyi. I think I have backed up saves from a long time ago that I can check in terms of whether I have any households where I did not use the age cheat.

Thank you again for your help. I really appreciate the time you spend helping everyone out. I hope you have a nice day.

    Hey crinrict,

UI cheats is one of my "must have mods" before I play my game, so I never patch until that is updated when needed, lol. I will check out that aging thread, thank you for that. 🙂

Anyway, I think I figured out the LE issue. I believe it is related to Simrealist's SNB Financial mod. Simrealist just released the update and I put it into my mods folder while I was doing some testing for a friend and low and behold, no more LEs. As long as that is in my mods folder along with the other SNB mods, I am NOT getting that LE. My guess is that something with that mod changes something in the save file so when I load the save file and the mod is missing, an LE is generated. I am new with modding myself, and only doing some small mods, so I am not sure if this is possible, but it made sense to me in terms of explaining what was happening.

The only other possibility I was thinking of is that my game is still getting the groundhog day bug - not as frequently as after the initial HSY release - but it still occurs and I have just adapted by changing my frequency of saving my progress. Anyway, I was thinking that whatever bizarre phenomenon is responsible for the GDB was also responsible for this LE.

So I can finally leave you in peace to help others. Thank you so very much for your time, assistance, and advice. I really, really appreciate your help. Please take care,

    Irishdragon

@irishdragon7 Glad to hear you figure out the LE :D

Yeah, there's def still something wonky with aging and other things. They just seem less frequent and probably under very specific circumstances.
