- crinrict3 years agoHero+@Elisse97 Does your Sim have the beloved trait ?

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199
You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
After renaming, repair your game by clicking on the dots in EA app.
Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.
- Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
- Tray Folder
- Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
- Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....- ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)
The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
Wait, does the beloved trait affect infants?? My sim has it and hasn't been able to pick her child up!!!
- crinrict3 years agoHero+@TheWandererLives Yes, that's a known bug. Thread is here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Parent-needs-to-be-introduced-to-infant/m-p/12382854
Seems there can be other reasons so @Elisse97 Do you have any option to introduce your Sim to the infant ? I have the same problem, however I can't do any actions with the toddler at all except read a story. I can't even feed the child. It also states that there are no caretakers in the area, but the mother just walks around with the toddler. Mother has just grown up, and the baby is just a toddler. But mother can do nothing with the baby except read a story. Father doesn't live in the same house so he can't take care of the toddler either.

(replying to this and original) I had this issue, I believe it's caused by cc cribs and traits. I was told to delete some mods such as chingyu's 100 traits mod and I did and the problem is fixed.
here's a thread on broken cc caused by infants + growing together: https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/1007107/broken-updated-mods-cc-march-2023-infants-patch
these solved most of these issues for me 🙂 <3
I deleted the chingyu trait and my sim still isn’t able to care for her infant. Idk what to do, please help. Thank you.
@Darlingfxx1 This is an old thread, and the cause of a problem a year ago is unlikely to still be the cause now. Start by making sure the cause *is* a mod. See here for how to do test "vanilla": https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/INFO-How-to-Use-Mods-and-CC/m-p/13439356#TestVanilla (Note the part where if you use custom food mods, you need to delete plates and food first)
Yes, I am well aware of the dated year. It was unlikely to still be a cause, I wouldn't have commented and asked for help. Which means it was currently still a problem because it was. One of my sim characters didn't have options to care for her infant and I did not why, so I actually followed the instructions, even if it was a year ago and it helped.
@Darlingfxx1 So you're okay now? Your previous post said that deleting the Chingyu mod didn't help. All current versions of Chingyu's mods are cleared for this week's patch, so you should be able to update that one. If the current version isn't working for you, that's often an installation error (check the installation instructions) or a conflict.
- @Player_mib8kols I've got the exact same issue - did you ever get this fixed?
