Re: I need an explanation for this issue and how to fix it.

Hello,

I have reported this new issue on the EA Error Report (Which is case #00c25e21-cab8-4a39-9cf3-584a2388b98a), but I thought that I might try here as well. So excuse me if I duplicate this issue. As I am trying to fix one issue with the game (Which is a mod kicking me out of a household), I am now facing another one. I click on the game, and nothing happens. I try to click on it again, and it says that it's already loading when I don't see it. I tried to repair both the EA and the Sims 4 apps but that didn't work. I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the EA app and that didn't work either.

I also submitted another issue which Better Exceptions flagged ModGuard. I showed that to someone who said that a mod is broken. But I don't know which one. How do i find that one out? And I did find the mod that was broken that I updated.

However, I saw the Sims 4 in my Task Manager, But, it is not loading on my screen. Does this problem have something to do with the reason why I am getting kicked out of the household in the game (And not a mod issue). I should also mention that, when I got into the game, my some of Sims' faces (There were eight in this one particular household), were black with no eyes, nose, or mouth. What is going on here, and how do I fix this issue?

I want to play Sims 4 but I can't because all of these issues. The main one being that I don't see it loading or playing. Plus I haven't played the game in two days.

    @SimSeeker

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

@SimSeeker The current version of ModGuard is 1.5, and the download location is TwistedMexi's website. Make sure you're on that one.

You also have your content in OneDrive, which could cause you problems with figuring out what mods are your issue. OneDrive has some very bad habits when it comes to deciding on its own what it thinks you want in your Sims folder. Before sorting through your mods, I strongly advise getting Sims content away from OneDrive: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/td-p/12475370

You might benefit from checking Broken/Updated Mods and then doing a 50-50 on the rest of your mods if you still have issues after using the lists.

    Hello,

I did download the latest version of ModGuard, but I am still getting that error. Plus, when I was there yesterday, I couldn't find it. And I did make sure that OneDrive is not connected to the folder. But I just found out that there is another Sims 4 folder in my Desktop and not under Documents. The one under Documents is the one that I have the red x next to. But now what do I do with the Desktop folder version?

As for the broken mod, I found it. Now my issue is that I cannot load or launch Sims 4 from the EA app. That's my main concern at the moment. I do have Windows 11 PC. I've done everything from reinstalling the EA app to repairing both the EA and Sims 4 apps and nothing works. However, the Sims 4 is running in Task Manager. This happened when I was finding the broken mod. It was working for a while. However, before Sims 4 disappeared after I click on the app, I saw my some of my character with black faces, and I couldn't get into that household. How do I fix this?

I have an update for you. As I was getting to fix my OneDrive Issue, I did something where I clicked on the taskbar and the game was there somehow. But I am still getting the same error.

I spoke with some who told me that I was putting ModGuard in the wrong place. But I am putting that in the Mod folder even though in the instructions says Root Folder. That confused me.

By the way, I still have my character's face being blacked out and I couldn't get into that household again. And the way that I do my 50/50 is to first figure out which Mods I have recently downloaded about one or two days ago. I usually play the game often and three days ago it was working fine. But I haven't played for 3 days. So it could be one of the mods that I have downloaded for the past three days. I have tried the ones from yesterday, but they weren't it. I wasn't finished with the one two days ago. If that doesn't work, then I would try to put all of my mods into a desktop folder. But what if that doesn't work?

But now that I mentioned some of the issues, do you have any idea what mod could be causing this issue?

@luthienrising Hello, I tried to get into my game after I stopped One Drive from Syncing. I just realized that every time I turn of syncing with Documents, I get a Video Card error. I have to have that turned on in order for that to work. Now how do I stop OneDrive from syncing. I do need OneDrive for some things. Now how do I fix this issue?

    Hello Another update,

I took out all of my mods and I still see my character's face being blacked out and not getting into the actual game. So, it is not a Mod issue. It's a game issue. Now, how do I fix this?

Also how do I show you the saved games that is the having the problem? I hope that you can view the two saved games to see what the problem really is.

@SimSeeker Please try a clean-folder test after ensuring that your Sims folders are excluded from OneDrive:

    1. Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop. Make sure you're doing this with the folder the game sees.
    2. Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options.
    3. Start with New to test if your issue recurs.

    If that works:

    1. Exit and copy files out of your old Saves folder into the new Saves folder. Important: Don't just copy the old folder! You want to use the newly created folders.
    2. Launch Sims 4 and use Load to select an older save to test.

    If that works:

    1. Copy your old Tray files (this is your Library), Screenshots and Videos files.
    2. To test mods, copy the files into the new folder *in batches* with any mods they depend on (injectors and core mods, for example). Don't copy your old resource.cfg file. If you delete any mods from the new folder, delete localthumbcache. Check the instructions on 50-50 testing here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/INFO-How-to-Use-Mods-and-CC/m-p/13439356#FiftyFifty

i will remove the cache. I did move all of my mods out. I've only put 50 of them back. I will test it out later tonight to see which mod(s) is the one kicking me out. I might have missed one from a few days ago.

    @jpkarlsenHello,

I found the mod that was the problem. I have downloaded all the others back and deleted local cache. If that didn't work, then I would have to do the 50/50 again. I think that at least I know where that other file might be. I will start playing my game tomorrow.

However, the only problem that I have is that my Sim doesn't have a face on the start up Screen in Resume. That's not a mod issue. I know this because when I took all of my mods out, and she didn't have a face on that screen (She did when I got into the game). How do i fix that one, or is that something on your side of the screen?

@SimSeeker Try re-deleting localthumbcache. That's normally enough for the faces to regenerate in the game UI. If it's the Main Menu saves list you're not seeing it in, the game is just quirky about what it shows there sometimes.

    Hello,

I did that yesterday, every time I added 50 mods back in. But I still no face in the Main Menu. I mean that I did constantly deleted localthumbcache many times, but I still see it. I even deleted it when I added all of my other mods back in, and I still see a character with no face in the Main Menu.

    Hello,

I didn't do your suggestion because after I put all of my mods back in after thinking that I have found the one, I still kept on getting kicked out and into the map world. But I have mostly taken out all of my mods that doesn't have folders, but this time, I can't even get into the game. When I do, it gets right back into the EA app. So now I am thinking it is one of the mods that is in a folder that is causing all of this. So back to the drawing board.

I also noticed that there were duplicates. I tried to not let OneDrive duplicate stuff. I tried your way of stopping OneDrive from syncing. However, whenever I do that, I get into the game with a Video Card error. I found a Sims 4 folder in both the Documents (Which now has a red X) and now on my Desktop. Do I fix this without having the Video Card problem show up?

Here's another update that I should mention. I somehow fixed the not getting into the game issue. But I am still getting kicked out.

I forgot to mention that Better Exceptions still kept on flagging ModGuard. I have been adding that to the mods folder via Windows 11 Extract All feature. I don't know what I am doing wrong in adding that mod. BUT, Better Exceptions also flagged two other mods. These two I noticed are in the same folder. I deleted that folder and I will have to test if out if that was the mod that was causing all these problems tomorrow. I have to go to bed now.

    Hello,

These days, Better Exception isn't flagging ModGuard. However, I don't know what turnable_perf means? That's the error message at the moment.

And it looks like I have more than one broken mod. I am still back in square one. I've taken a few mods out.

And the last time that I tried to get into my game, I get a message in the attachment. So I don't know if that is a mod issue or not. And this happened after I finally got into my game after putting some mods to my Desktop folder. So I am messaging the link that you mentioned about this.

I will also contact Microsoft about the OneDrive issue.

@SimSeeker Sounds like you're on the current version of ModGuard, which is awesome.

Tunable_perf is a harmless but annoying error caused by script mods that were updated in 1.103 for a new bit of Sims code... which got changed again. This is one of the two reasons the Updated list has been so long the last couple of weeks. If you're caught up with the AHQ list, check any script mods that have no file later than Feb. 27, and try removing those. Some might never have been updated for the problem with 1.103 (because they'd require you to have a different mod instead), and they'll still be okay when you re-add them to test. Some might have updates but not be reported here for one AHQ-being-official reason or another.

Your error code has it's own post: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/MOD-RELATED-Error-code-every-time-I-try-and-go-into-a-game-109/m-p/11471234/highlight/true#M13574 It's generally mod-triggered. You might need to 50-50 for this one.

    Hello,

I will add those that are past Feb. 27th on my Desktop (Which I moved it to) soon. So thank you very much for suggesting that. I will test it out later today.

@SimSeeker If you do isolate a problem app that's on the "Updated" list, please do let me know. (That would be tested alone, with only the mods it depends on, localthumbcache deleted, and results on both a new save and your previous one -- fussy, I know! But that's how testing is.)

    Hello,

I see what you mean. I got a Better Exceptions Patch Day update thinking that all of those that are updated need to be deleted and updated when they already are (I ignored it for now). So far, I got in without issues with the updated ones. So I think that I might try to add one of the earlier not updated ones to see if they are the issue.

Update: So far today, I didn't find the mod that is broken. But you might be on to something. I was putting back some of the oldest mods in this one part that I already separated. But I might try those mods on Feb. 26th tomorrow.

    Hello,

I am having no luck in isolating the problem. I thought that I might look at Scartlet Modlist for the broken mods. I deleted them, but now when I press the Sims 4 game on the EA App. It just goes back to the EA app.

It's more possible that it's not a broken mod that is a issue, it might be a mod that doesn't agree with my laptop. Or it could be a broken mod that is not on Scarlet's list. Or it could be there but I missed it.

Another update here is that I tried to take out all except the mods for 2024. It might be a mod from 2023 that is causing this issue.

I also should update you on the OneDrive situation. The only message that I read and responded to was from One Rep that wrote that there is nothing I can do about OneDrive. I wrote that there is (I read it online, but I didn't do any of the steps). Then I was about to read another response, but that was deleted. I haven't read the other responses yet, but I will soon.

I think that I might put all the 2023s back month by month to see which Mod is causing the issue of me not getting into my Sim's household and back into maps. I think that it could a broken mod that i missed, or a mod that doesn't like my computer.

    @SimSeeker

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.
