Re: [Mod Related] Game doesn't save/Time reset on transition/(Part) Progress lost

I had this Groundhog Day nightmare with one of my main files sometime yesterday, after the latest patch on 26th of July, to this intensity. For the time being this savefile is temporarily abandoned, and no older saves have been revisited in fear of breaking them too. While I have not had this exact issue again so far, I have one that feels related which is why I'm replying here. Apologies in advance for a long and wordy addition to the thread, and additional apologies if I am asking in the wrong place.

EDIT: Removed my wall of text about what I thought worked at the time because honestly it did NOT, it came right back soon after. It was a bit of luck, a brief break from the bug and a whole truckful of wishful thinking that I don't believe is useful to anyone at this point. It certainly didn't work back then even for me.
Judging by this whole thread, I just got lucky at some point much more recently after the hotfix and/or a heaping helping of mod updating.

I spent the day trying to figure this out as well. In my scenario, mods were not the culprit as I still had the issue with and without them installed. I can't believe the update messed up the game so badly, I never had problems with my saves or game this bad!

My game is doing this too. I thought I fixed it when I removed a mod but it started doing it again. I have run multiple repairs since the new pack was downloaded.

My situation is:

The problem occurs on old save all the time (100%).

I started a new game without removing mods and played for two days, it goes much much better. But it still occurred once, reverted a few in-game hours. I think it is not just the mods as the new game is playable.

I will remove the mod folders and try again.

@SirkusAceMy game is actually functional now as far as *this* egregious mess is concerned. WITH mods (specifics removed) and various CC. All that could be updated have been updated, after rigorous file refreshing and the latest hotfix. I have been able to use simple saves for multiple days (real-time days) of play now. My pessimistic nature is at this point just waiting for what seems to be a more severe save bug, but for now I'm good with the exception of the wants and fears refusing to stay out of my lane, (happened after the hotfix, joy) which *I have dropped a +me too* on the relevant thread I found for that specifically.

I'm so sorry for everyone still affected by save issues just in general, because SOMETHING is clearly mangled still and I'm not skilled or knowledgeable enough to tell what I did that actually slammed the proverbial wheel back in place. I did however want to add a testimony of a game working as intended (other nuisances not withstanding) WITH a cocktail of mods and CC installed currently. Both a fresh new save after things appeared to finally be fixed, and a recent one I HAD issues with prior. The only thing beyond saving (pun not intended) is my original problem save, that fell to the infinite loading death early on.

@khitteh Do you have MCCC in? And did you ever change lifespan from normal back to anything else?

I also have never seen the 532 error.

I was going through my notes (yep, one of those people) and narrowed it down from the last time I had reversion to the last days of no issues whatsoever even using the updated adult mod.

And there seems to be only one common thing that I changed when the issues seem to have stopped (oh man did I just jinks)

And I also removed all adult mod stuff and installed fresh before these tests, so there was nothing old left behind.

Anyway, here are my steps to when it stopped.

Before all I turned my lifespan back to long life from normal, all I ever played

-Stated a new sim that wanted to be a werewolf
-moved in, built house no problem
-got to be wolf, and a few abilities
-entered CAS fix clown clothes on wolf form....
-all reset to the day I stated this sim like move in day
-quit without saving for the day
-next day started sims, and it showed that wolf on resume for the not saved sim
-hit resume
-all at start like move in day----played a bit
-Realized my teen sim only had 12 days left till B-day
(long life should be longer)
-tried applying normal than back to long lifespan, never changed days left
-looked into it, and found that MCCC was forcing only normal lifespan
Never did that in all the years I used it (never touched MCCC's Age stuff)
Found out EA changes Lifespan lengths and MCCC was still using old normal ages
Read on site that they know of issue and MCCC will show different ages than the Base game.
-So at that point I removed MCCC
-Started Sims
-Resumed Game, and it now showed correct lifespan as set in the base preferences.
-Have been playing no issues ever since, now leader of a pack and lots of abilities.

I am leaving MCCC out till they fix the age differences, and started thinking that if one was trying to save an age/lifespan that was not agreeing with the base game age/lifespan, this could cause big issues on saves, could be wrong.

Hmm, interesting! I'm glad you've been able to get your game to work again. I'm seeing a lot about people removing MCCC and adult mod and that helping, but there doesn't seem to be much workaround when those two mods aren't involved. I took MCCC out straight away, and I've never used adult mod. I've cleared all the local caches, repaired the game countless times, and then also started multiple new save files but i get that annoying error message every time I try to save, no matter the route I take. 

Has anyone been able to ""fix"" the problem without it being MCCC/adult mod related?

Gave this a go and unfortunately it didn't work. I already didn't have MCCC back in my game, just in case, so I went in to a new save, changed the age settings, and alas was unable to save and exit the game in any form. In the end I just had to close it without saving. Then I reloaded the game and went back into that save just in case it was still working despite having been unable to save it before, but no dice :/ I still get an error code and can't save in any form.

This bug is unacceptable. I've tried mostly all the fixes listed here and the legacy save I've been playing for almost three years at this point is completely ruined. I've tried to save the game in multiple different ways but every single time I do and then log out it just goes back to the very same day without fail. I've removed my mods and deleted the cache file, then generated a new one. I've tried with mods on and off. I am so frustrated with having to redo all my progress every time that I don't even want to play anymore. It doesn't feel like they're going to do anything about this and I don't really know how I can keep playing with this bug in place. I'm at a complete loss.

I'm probably not going to touch this game again until a patch rolls out. Don't want to corrupt my save more than it already is.

Have they made any mention of a patch?

I've been testing since this morning, and the mod we shall not name has an update, so I put that into my game, and removed MCC. I've been able to save for the first time since three days ago. Will keep testing.

i have tried everything. I have removed all mods, some mods, reinstalled, repaired, and nothing seems to help with this issue. I like many others purchased this pack in advance. It is disappointing that there are so many bugs. I have almost every single pack except and I have never encountered a problem like this. I unfortunately need to stop playing until there is a fix for this.

This change log came from the mod no one will mention.  I have installed and all seems to be working at the moment. I hate that ppl are blaming modders for this problem when clearly it's not and they seem to be the only ones trying to find us any kind of fix... I'll report back after a day to let you guys know if anything changed or broke.  but in the meantime  I think this download is worth a try for anyone who's having the issue with your day rolling back.

• Added a workaround to prevent the save rollback issue

A lot of you reported issues with your game save going back in time, so I investigated it. Although I wasn't able to find the cause of this bug, I learned that something changed in the latest patch in regards to how outfits data is working now. I managed to construct a workaround that avoids the "sensitive" point causing the save to break.

I don't know if this fixes all occurrences of this problem, if other mods can cause it, if the game itself can cause it, or what really is the source of it. It will take a while to figure it out, but hopefully this workaround is enough for now.

While it's great that people get their games working by reinstalling, removing various mods etc, I feel this thread may give new visitors the idea that the bug is fixable by the player. As someone who has had this problem since updating and have been reading this thread for a week now, these are, as far as I can tell, the facts:

1. The bug is unpredictable. It is entirely possible to play for a long while, save multiple times successfully, with the bug still being present. That has happened to me and many others. But eventually, the game still resets, unless you just happen to be very lucky. Thus, the fact that your game currently works does not mean that whatever you did fixed it. I wish it did.
2. Mods can trigger the symptoms of the bug more frequently but it is, unless players are lying, present in both console and unmodded games.
3. The fix for the Mod That Must Not Be Named is an attempt at making that specific mod work around the data points that appear compromised, not an attempt to fix the bug in itself. Only the devs can fix the bug. (Or rather, the devs can hopefully fix it. This is an old game that was, apparently, originally developed to be something very different and then hastily modified to resemble older TS games.)
4. The bug seems to be primarily related to outfit data but causes cascading issues.
5. The bug is in the base game but may be made worse by HSY. I'd guess because of Trendi.
6. The players can't fix this bug. At most, we can try to avoid triggering it.
7. The bug most likely affects many more people than visit this thread. Just on Reddit, I've seen multiple people either describe the save issues or other problems that seem strongly related to this. It's entirely possible that many players who are not specifically trying advance through, for example, high school or just play more 'relaxed' games where they mostly stay on one lot, might not even notice that the days reset but only that weird things are happening to relationships and skills.
8. This bug is most likely connected to a bunch of other symptoms like settings not saving, unclaimed babies and inexplicable routing/teleporting by sims.

In short, this appears to be a very serious issue that the devs must fix. And, considering its symptoms suggest serious problems with data handling, it may take a long time, though I certainly hope it doesn't.

@Anucass Is it working for you? I updated the mod but it's not working because it keeps saying one of the files is missing even though it's in my mod folder. 

My save of 3 years is definitely a no go. First, it was resetting to the same day and time.Now I cannot save at all. I am getting that same error code mentioned in this thread (will attach photo).  I started a new save without mods to see what would happen. Traveled one time and now I can't save. This is a mess, EA. The patch after HSY, my game was fine. The fix to that patch, from August 2 is when I started to have issues.

Everything so far is working okay. But I did do a couple of other things in addition to updating the Unmentionable Mod.  1. I uninstalled HSY  2. When I load my save I remove all the previous saves from my save folder. I'm suspecting that the game is pickling the last save and not the current save.  Example first save was 00001  then next save {most recent} is 00002 . What I do is remove 00001 - Forcing the game to choose 00002.  And so far it's been working.  3. Removed MCCC - because of the age thing {I'm not saying this is the culprit, I'm just doing it as a precaution. Because EA changed the age lengths and MCCC has the original age Length}.  After I save a few more times I will try re-installing HSY and see what happens. Will keep you guys posted.
