Re: Moved my game from MAC to PC- CC will not work

@desireeanne23

The problem may be because of onedrive.  You could try moving everything to your hard drive or SSD and disable the onedrive connection for The Sims 4 folder.

Hope this helps.

  • @CGrant56 Hey, I did that this morning because it kept linking to my one drive because I saw on this forum someone said that. I realized my game was doing the same. So I disabled the one drive, tried again and nothing :/

    Now that you've disabled OneDrive, you can fix whatever issues it caused and then test CC. Start with a clean folder: Exit Sims 4 then drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop. Launch Sims 4 and start a New Game. Reset your Options how you like them.

    Now try copying your most recent save to the *new* Saves folder and see if it works without the CC (but don't save!). If it does, copy the CC over to the new folder and test that. With some luck, you'll have cleared up the issue and won't have to do a 50-50.

    And I remembered another thing to check (one I ran into myself last night!). Depending on how you moved your content between computers, you might have ended up with some script files having a ".zip" extension added to the end and messing things up for you. If you uploaded folders online then downloaded them, check for files ending ".ts4script.zip" and rename them to remove the ".zip" part.

    What error message are you getting when you start now? Does it still show OneDrive? The path where you put mods and CC should be Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods, and Documents shouldn't be in OneDrive anymore.

    I don't see any evidence that anything is linked to Origin in the pic in your 1st post.  Are you getting a different pop up saying that?  Origin and the EA App do not connect to the game user folder asfaik, only the game files.  I've never heard of that before.

    What the popup you posted says though is the files may be corrupted which can happen when moving files between storage devices be they hard drives, USBs, SSDs, or the cloud.  Rare, but it does happen.  Since the game is seeing new things you downloaded on the PC and not seeing the CC moved over from the Mac, then it could have gotten corrupted.  So, I suggest you try copying it over a bit at the time and test what you copied on the PC to see if it works.  If it does, that might be your problem.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you so much for your help @CGrant56  can i ask you another question. I disconnected the drive and i had it save to my local disk but, its still saving on my desktop but, also trying to link to the one cloud. Does that mean i didnt actually disconnect the one drive and i should try creating another admin profile and see if it works on another profile?

    Honestly, I don't know.  I haven't ever used onedrive and have no experience with it.  I would think that if the files are still showing a onedrive link, that they are still linked to it but I'm not sure.

    But I do know a helper that can probably answer your questions on it and will ask them to post here.

    Hope this helps.

    It looks like Documents is still in OneDrive there. I've only done this disconnection once myself, and I recall it being complicated. It could easily be that you didn't get the full process done. See if the instructions here are helpful: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/How-do-I-remove-onedrive-without-losing-all-my-files/m-p/12322291/highlight/true#M244204

    (That said, that one file may *also* be corrupted separately)
