It is still happening. Could it be that it is to indicate a growth spurt?
@jmeadowbrook No, this is never deliberate in game. It's either a result of a mod or of some odd animation error. If it happens repeatedly, test without mods (delete localthumbcache too) or try a clean folder (move the whole Sims 4 folder to your desktop, restart the game and redo your Options, then copy files into the the folders without replacing any the game has recreated).
