Re: Restaurant glitch: can't sell business or transfer funds to business (see video)
@deannaoak I just entered the lot of a household that owns several types of businesses, and I tried transferring funds from their home lot. I was able to transfer to and from the business. Is it possible the funds transfer location or method of transfer has changed since you last did it? Please see if you see the same interface on your game. Perhaps you could share a screenshot, as I cannot view your video:
If memory serves, to sell a business I think you need to be on the business lot. For a retail store I think you access this through the physical cash register in the store. I'm not sure that you need this info since you were asking about transferring money, but I can check specifics if you need it. You said you removed your Mods... did you have any that were related to the store/business? Do you have CC and have you also removed that (along with the cache file)?
@deannaoak Thank you for sharing the video! I was a bit surprised by a few things in your video that were different from when I take my Sim to her restaurant and try to transfer money or sell it.
When I have my Sim travel to the restaurant and view the sell and other restaurant settings areas, the restaurant is closed to get the option to sell. I am able to move money around and to sell the restaurant as normally is expected...
In your video it says your restaurant is closed in the popup in restaurant settings, yet it also has a yellow caution triangle by the employees 'wrench icon' on the right that shows you don't have the required staff, plus I see in the background that the restaurant is open and is running. If memory serves I believe a restaurant must be closed to sell it.:
I'm wondering about several things in your video. First, I wonder why and how your restaurant appears to be open when it is closed. I also wonder if there's any chance that there is a difference in how our owner Sims are visiting the restaurant to attempt the sale of it. Do you begin with your Sim on their home lot and click the travel (plane) icon to travel to the venue?
Having said all of that, unless something in what I mentioned prompted a different method that brought up the ability to sell your restaurant, my guess is that there is something interfering and possibly cached into your game from the CC, a past Mod, or a glitch/bug in the game.
Mods/CC that are causing a conflict/glitch/breaking functions in your game don't necessarily need to have anything to do with the type of interaction/function you're having an issue with. Also, CC &/or Mods that are in the game, and sometimes that have been removed but have left cache in the game, can affect your game in ways that may or may not make sense. Even installing the latest version of a Mod/CC does not guarantee that there is not a conflict that is affecting the game due to a more recent game update or due to a Mod/CC update that did not fully address issues.
Please try the following as stated. If you did any of it before, please do it again with all of the other directions, and see if the issue's gone. You don't need to save without the Mods/CC in the game you test in, just confirm if it's gone. If it's gone, you can troubleshoot finding the Mod/CC causing the issue in a new, vanilla game save:
Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can then test without saving – or in a new vanilla game save – in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue. Then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.
If the issue remains you could see if a game repair fixes the issue:
How to run a game repair: • Open Origin, click ‘Game Library’ then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game • Let it run until it has completed all repairs. It will do the base game first, then run through each of your DLCs (Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits).
