Re: Sim's lifespan not matching long duration

@strwbrri  Thanks for sharing that.  Since your MCCC setting should allow the default setting for the game, it suggests that you have another mod that affects aging.  if you know which mod might affect the life span, then you'll want to adjust the settings.  If you're not sure which one might affect aging, then the best thing to do is test the game with each mod separately until you find the culprit.  You'll want to delete that cache file each time you remove a mod and before opening the game to test.

Additionally, If you have saved the game after adding any mod back to the game, it is possible that your sim was saved with whatever age duration was applied by the mod; i.e. your sim was saved with the 3 day age up.  So you may need to test each mod in a new save each time you open the game while also deleting that cache file before opening the game.  This may also mean that the age duration will persist in your main save for the current active sims and you may need to play with aging turned off for those sims until you find the mod that is setting the weird short duration.  This process can be a little tedious but I think it will be worth the effort to find which mod is causing the problem.

  • @JonaO703 Thank you so much for your help! I'll definitely check each of my mods and CC to see what is causing this problem.

You mentioned the cache file. I just wanted to make sure, is it the localthumbcache.package which I have to delete every time I restart the game and delete the mod?

After finding the issued mod, and having it removed, will my saved game return back to normal? I will be sure check the mods using a new save file!

Thank you so much for your help once again! I'll let you know if any other issues occurs (hopefully not haha)

@strwbrri    You're welcome!  I do hope that you're able to figure out what's happening in your game.  Yes, by cache file I was referring to that localthumbcache file in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder.

I can't say for sure that your main save will return to normal.  I suspect that if you saved the game with the 3 day age up, then the sims in that save will be permanently altered.  However, if you identify the mod causing that short life span and either change the setting or remove the mod, then future sims should have the default setting going forward.

Please do come back and give an update on what worked or didn't work so that others can benefit from your experience.  Happy Simming! :-)

  • Hello @JonaO703

I'm back for an update! I found out it was an outdated mod that was causing the issue. I can now play without needing to disabled aging and with the correct duration! For my current household, I just uploaded them to the gallery and added them into a now save file.

Thank you once again for your help! I hope you have a wonderful day/night wherever you are 🙂)
