Re: Stuck at loading screen after editing a sim in CAS

Hello everyone,

after having my sim age up, i decided to change her outfits in CAS like I always do, but upon confirming the changes, the loading screen appeared, and I couldn't enter live mode. I waited about 15 minutes and still nothing. The plumbob is spinning and the tips are switching like normal, but no live mode ever seems to load. I also can't close the game, so i have to close it though the task manager every time.

I also started having problems with the error code 0 a couple days back, but choosing SAVE AS (not SAVE) seemed to work. I'm not sure if these 2 problems are connected, so I'm mentioning it just in case.

So far I've tried removing all my mods, starting a new TS4 folder and putting just my saves and tray files back in, cleaning EA app cache and repairing the game.

I have tried starting a brand new save and everything seemed to work fine (even choosing SAVE and not SAVE AS). So I think the problem might only be my current save that I've played in for a couple of months now. I'm a bit sad because it happened so suddenly. I haven't downloaded any new mods or cc in a week or so, so it's not like removing the latest mod would do the trick.

If anyone has any other suggestions aside from the solutions I've mentioned, I would greatly appreciate it. If not, I have my sims saved in the gallery, so I guess I will start a new save with the same sims. Very frustrating : (

  • I don’t have an answer but my game is stuck too within the CAS screen. I’ve tried reinstalling from scratch. This essentially makes my game unplayable.

So sorry to hear that. I really hope there's a solution/workaround. I would not enjoy having my sims walk around with randomized outfits (we all know the townie creations 🙂) if i decided to embrace not going to CAS or lose months of progress if I were to abandon this save.

Adding this just in case: once I click confirm in CAS, it's almost as if the game didn't recognize I tried leaving CAS. I can still hear my sim making sounds (when they smile and/or look around while in the full body/zoomed out mode) after the loading screen appears. So I hear both the loading screen music AND my sim in CAS. I usually play without sound so I only found this out today.

  • That’s how mine is too! It makes noises like I never clicked “confirm” and just “circles” like it’s saving to start gameplay but never moves past the save feature. No added traits in my case- my save file recently got messed up through OneDrive so my game is essentially starting from fresh install with the exact same problem.

@Imcrying123 I merged your posts. Please don't post in multiple places, especially if you already have help in one forum. Thank you

EDIT: Have you tested if other households in that save work ?

  • Yes, tried going to CAS while playing a random different household (I've never played in that household), changed one sim's outfit and clicked confirm. And yep, it worked that time just fine. Then I got my hopes up and tried my main legacy household again and obviously I got stuck again haha.

  • I don't notice anything out of the ordinary in CAS. All traits are showing up correctly (including the extra ones), all names are how they should be too. Everything seems to be working/looking as it should. I tried to leave CAS by clicking the X button instead of the confirm button after making some changes (so no changes would save) and that worked fine too. Got into live mode, no problem.

@Imcrying123 Do all the Sims in the family have an extra trait ? If not, can you try splitting the one with the 4th trait to it's own household (just for testing, try on a backup). Then try if it works for either household.
  • Hmmm, so I had one of my sims move out of the household, she is a YA sim with 3 traits + one additional trait (Romantic), I moved her out to an empty lot and tried going to CAS through shift+click on the sim - > modify in CAS. Did my thing, and after confirming, I was skeptical, but I managed to get into the live mode safely. Tried one more time just to make sure and yep, still worked. I will try that with my other sims in my main household to see if some other sim is the problem. I do have a sim with more than 12 traits in that household (bought from the reward store, aspiration and skill traits and such) so it might be possible one of them is the problem.

  • There are two sims, both teens, that haven't gotten any additional traits. They just have the toddler/infant reward traits. All the other sims, including the one I talked about previously, the YA sim, have at least one trait that they got through the game asking if I want that trait for them.

@Imcrying123 Easiest to narrow down which Sim it is, is to just put them all in separate households and see which one causes issues.
  • I will post an update once I have time to play again. Hopefully I will be able to pinpoint which sim might be the culprit.

  • Alright, so I put all my sims into different households and through trial and error i figured out which sim is causing the trouble. She's an elder sim (was an adult when it happened first). She has the following traits: childish, neat and genius (she got these upon aging up), plus outgoing, cheerful and glutton and the bonus trait good manners (got those through gameplay), as well as the traits always welcome, great kisser and carefree (which i purchased from the reward store).

@Imcrying123 The easiest is probably to just delete her from the game.

I'm not sure if we discussed this but if you put her in the gallery and place in a new save/new household for testing, does she work there or also not ?

If not, please put her in the gallery if you want me to try and save here (it's usually hard to pinpoint what the issue is though so no guarantees)
  • She only has one day to live anyway. I will try the gallery method and I will post an update.

@Imcrying123 You might need to send her to the Neverworld or delete the ghost after she passes. It's possible that you'll still have issues if she's present as a ghost.

It’s something in their household. I moved them out the household and onto a different lot and was able to go into CAS but when i moved them back into their old household it didn’t work so i moved them back in again but this time with no furniture and it worked. So it’s definitely a cc furniture i just don’t know what exactly.
