Re: Unplayed sims & townies get very fat

I have that a lot when I play rotations at apartments, because it's always the same townies every day visiting the food stalls and all they do there is eat, eat, eat 🙂

I had Anaya Jang turn into a super fatty, so when she was next to her husband Bako it looked kinda comical. For her, I had my scientist sims make the slimify potion and offer it to her. She is nice and thin again.

For a more gradual weight loss, I noticed one of the townies my sim is friends with was putting on weight. Invite them to the gym a couple of times. Once they use the equipment and gain some fitness levels, they started become gym regulars and would appear there on their own while I was playing other families rotating around at the gym. They soon become slim. And muscular if there's weight machines.

Sometimes I noticed that townies that were getting fat and I invited them to the gym became joggers and I see them around now losing weight on their own.

It really is a fascinating phenomenon trying to manage the weight of townies you don't play. I'd say it's a feature rather than a bug. I like how they can change, rather than stay the same all the time like when I played The Sims 2.

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's a bug either. They do live their own lives and if you play certain aspects a lot (like restaurants that have the tendency to have the same people there all the time), they get fat.

  • Thanks, I guess I'll do that. I don't want them all to be super thin. It's just that some of my Sims were already curvy or plus sized, I don't want them to be huge, but I don't want to slim them down to twigs. I liked them the way they were, but I appreciate that it's realistic.

Sorry, but I came here looking for a fix for this. This is not a feature, it's a bug--most likely an xbug where it's working as designed but not working as the end user expects. I'm also a rotational player and my wellness guru sim is best friends with another playable sim who has the fine dining quirk and any time they are together my healthy wellness--makes her living from teaching other sims to eat healthy and do yoga--sim becomes an obese white cake binging idiot. It's frustrating because I shouldn't have to worry about maintaining *my* gameplay and storyline because of this stupid gameplay breaking issue.

I think it's great the EA allows for all different players to play with all different body types. But because I like to take my playable vegetarian fitness fan celebrity sim (which is why she is best friends with my currently unplayed wellness guru sim) and her celebrity partner out to posh restaurants for their dates--since everyone else dining there is an npc, suddenly my town full of diversely shaped sims all turn into grossly obese sims after a full night of gameplay. This makes me want to go back to Sims 2 which lacks entirely the body diversity that Sims 4 has.

Diversity and *different* body shapes does not mean all fat sims.

Sorry to necro this, but is there a fix or at least a mod to resolve this issue? I just want my unplayed sims with high fitness levels and likes to be in the same state I left them at and I want the chubby NPCs to stay chubby and the skinny NPCs to stay skinny. And I'm not a fan of "potions" or unrealistic gameplay nor do I want to remove all of the restaurants or kill all the npcs in the neighbourhood and start over.

BTW: I hate it when players ask for help and then are told--it's fun to have a borked game. It's not.

There's not a whole lot you can do to keep a sim at the fit/fat state you want in the game when you're not playing them and go a long time between playing some sims.  I fight that battle all the time. But you mentioned your sim while an NPC eating a lot of white cake.  If you have Eco Lifestyle, then check the active NAPs in the zone you are playing in.  I don't have my game open atm and I've forgotten the name of the NAP, but there is one, when active, causes the NPCs (and actives) to cook white cakes a lot, almost continually at times.  And so there is a lot of cake around at residential lots in a zone with that NAP active.  So, you might want to check and repeal the NAP if it is active.  It might help some to keep your sims where you want them.

    Hope this helps.
