Saving in build mode takes forever

For some time now, and especially after Lovestruck patch, if I make changes in build mode, it takes forever to save very soon. First it was saving forever immediately after I clicked on save, after I started the Sims 4 folder from fresh it works okay when I save for the first or the second time while building, but after that it takes forever to save again, especially if I place ceiling lighting but also many other objects, it gets worse and worse, more and more objects make game stuck on saving. I tried to save the lot or room in gallery as an alternative solution for keeping my building progress somehow in game, but there also kept loading forever and prevented me to save it. I also tried not to save after progress in building and then go back to manage worlds to save somewhere else (in live mode or whatever) but it kept loading forever between the build mode and manage worlds! I have repaired the game, tried in different saves, different devices... I tried 50/50 too, but it behaved unexpectadly and I couldn't find what the error was besides doing the method right. Personally, I think that it is because of the amount of cc that I have and that my pc can't handle it, but not sure. I have around 20k of package files, currently just ww, mccc and be of mods, the rest is cc. My pc is strong enough to handle the game but could be better. Any help will be highly appreciated.

  • @dmz0mnc2lpe8 Does it work okay with an empty Mods folder?

If so, with that quantity of mods, you likely have a fair number of outdated mods and duplicates. It's rare that I don't see a mods folder that big without duplicates. I highly recommend using a tool like Better Exceptions to help you identify at least some of those duplicates (it can catch most of those). It's not set up to catch much CC that has replacements, though.

Another option for finding duplicates is to reorganize your CC only by creator, no other categories. Usually when I see duplicates it looks like the players had too many different ways they were organizing their Mods folder, so a file might be under the creator name, under "baths", and under "baths" under the creator name too, for example.

I actually have Better Exceptions and I often scan for any duplicates and conflicting cc and mods. I don't think that I have duplicates tho. Maybe a few but as I said, I always remove them when I scan. I don't know what the problem might be.

  • I'm having the issue too since the update! tried running the game with packs but no mods and had the same issue so I know it's not my mods folder

@IGNISREN And was that with a completely vanilla game - you moved out or renamed the whole Mods folder and deleted localthumbcache?

Yes, the game worked right when vanilla without cache, but I don't know how to find the right broken cc since the 50/50 fooled me and wasn't successful (at one point the problem disappeared after removing certain amount of mods but when I put them back to test and be sure that there was the problem the game was also doing fine, with the same amount of mods as from the beginning)

@dmz0mnc2lpe8 Issues with 50-50 not identifying a solution will generally be one of these issues:

    1. There are conflicts that aren't showing up because the mods are in separate batches.
    2. Some mods are being tested without all their parts being in the same batch
    3. Sheer quantity is the problem, so smaller batches all work.

@dmz0mnc2lpe8 I'd strongly advise trying to pare your CC down to what you actually use. Organize it in the process to try to identify any duplicates. When you have it pared down, re-test.
