Hi I am having similar issue with saving my game. I am writing this Feb 6th, 8:57pm PT. Even after updating all the mods listed that it would break in this new patch (**bleep**, MC Command center, Twisted Mexi's better build buy and TOOL mod), my game will not save. The saving icon just keeps spinning with no end. My game was running decently until I went to save.
My household is a save that has existed for a couple of years but only has two sims and a cat. I do play with mods but I updated all the mods beforehand.
The new event is also buggy with the NPC's your sims need to talk too for one of the first quests do not show up even after calling them. When they do spawn it is not at your home lot. (I found the Royal whatever they are called at the gym.)
I just hope EA fixes this update again because I love my household as I have been playing with these sims for quite awhile and want to be able to continue to.
