Sim can't cook

I have a Sim in my game who suddenly cannot use any fabricator or refrigerator.

I first noticed the problem after I put the sim in the civil engineer career and then made her work from home. While I was trying to finish a task (upgrade an appliance) I noticed that she could no longer use the fridge or the fabricator. Any fridge or fabricator would have the "cook" or "fabricate" option but nothing happens when I click it.

I switched to a different family, and none of the other sims in that household had any problems cooking. Nothing in this sim's house is blocking the fridge. I tried traveling to a local community lot and she can't use any fridges there either. I closed the game and used the repair tool in the origin launcher, which also did not help.

What can I do to fix my sim?
