Sim flashing lines like a strobe light when zoomed out

Hi there!

My first time posting for support, so please do let me know if I'm doing this wrong.

I've been encountering this issue off and on with two specific Sims in my (modded, CC) game. One thing I've realised is that I've lazily changed the name of both affected Sims via MCCC, rather than through CAS.

The issue is that the Sims in question are creating these weird visual glitches that are like flashing lines / bars / strips of light when they're zoomed out on. This is making it a pain to navigate around my lot away from the Sim, and also when the other affected Sim (not in household) does a walkby.

I've already tried resetting both Sims to no effect.

Feels like I'm in Ibiza!

Attaching a video of the glitch - this isn't as bad as it can be sometimes, where the lines are thicker. Flash warning for photosensitive Simmers.

  • @joanofnarc   Hello!  You might want to try playing the game without mods/CC.  Exit the game, move your Mods folder to the desktop and delete the localthumbcache.package file located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game for testing.

If that doesn't help, perhaps it is related to your graphics.  What are your game's graphics settings?  Perhaps you could look for an update to your graphics card?

  • Hi there! Thanks so much for your help on this - sorry I'm so slow to reply.

After seeing you suggest removing mods/CC, I took a lazy approach which was changing the outfits of the affected Sims - I noticed the flashing stopped immediately, so it was definitely broken CC.

Once I'd swapped all the outfits over, it's stopped the issue, without having to go through all my mods & CC!

Thanks again for the advice 🥳

@joanofnarc   Excellent!  I'm glad you were able to find the culprit and without too much fuss.  Have fun playing! :-)
