Sim is unable to eat food

My sims are unable to "get left overs" from a fridge and are unable to "grab a serving" off a plate of food. When I select "get left overs" from a fridge or "grab a serving" from a plate of food the sim walks up to the item, spurts a quick glitch and does not complete the action, and the action is removed from the queue.

I do not use nor do i have any mods or cc and my game is up to date.

I have tried resetting all the objects, restarting the game, and restarting my PC.

I will try to attach a short video showing the issue, but if I cannot I have one ready I that can share.

Please help and thank you for your time.

    I repaired my game after posting my original post and then went back into the game with the same problem, no change. I ended up deleting the left over foods in the fridge and began remaking foods to re-stock up. I haven't had the issue again yet but I haven't had much time to play test it further. I will also try removing the file you suggested and see if that does it.

    I'll update here again as soon as I know if its worked or not.

    If possible, could you explain what the "cachefile localthumbcache.package" is and why removing it would help? I'm not too tech savvy and would like to better learn what this was.

    @SammieForever88 you find that file "localthumbcache.package" in The Sims 4 folder in your userfolder. This file caches different Data from the Game. Sometimes it is useful to delete it. When deleted an you start the game it creates a new file.
