@Phalira123 I'm so sorry... that sounds awful, losing your household &/or game save! I wish I could say I didn't know how that felt, but like many others I have learned to save and back up obsessively after a number of losses and mistakes I made. I will put some resources for information on this and related/potential issues I am guessing may be involved or possibly involved...
- Info on how to save your game: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/help/save.php
- Info on how to access game saves, what files contain what in your game: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/user-files-explained/
- Save game info from Crinrict: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/save-games/
- To return to a previous save:SpoilerIn-Game Method:
Go to the Main Menu and choose 'Load Game'. Select a saved game, then hover over the small folder icon and click this icon.
This will reveal your most recent saves on that 'Game Save'. Select the 'Recover' button on the version (see time stamp) that you prefer.
Game Files Method:
Or you can do this in the game files by following the directions here:
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/how-to-restore-a-previous-saved-game-in-the-sims-4/ - To backup your game locally (on your computer), which files do you save?Spoiler
How to find your game files/folders:
- Go to:
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 - Copy the following folders:
Saves, Tray, Mods, Screenshots, Recorded Video - Paste the folders:
Paste the folders locally on your computer, on an external drive, &/or a flash drive. I recommend choosing two or all three of these locations.
- Go to:

- How to save or share a lot to your library &/or the gallery: https://sherigr.com/tutorials/saving-lot-to-sims-4-library-gallery/
- How to troubleshoot if your Mods or Custom Content (CC) are causing the issue:SpoilerDo you have any Mods or CC? If so, please move your Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. If the issue is gone, please re-add the Mods/CC one at a time until you find the one causing the issue. If you have a lot of Mods/CC you can try the 50/50 Method. You can test without saving in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue, then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.
Please check your library in the game also. When you create a Sim household/Sim there is normally a copy of the initially (not played yet) Sim/household saved to your library. It's worth checking there. However, if you save your household and lots to your library after they are made &/or played, the version that you save in your library should have the skills and most changes you made to the Sims, though the only relationships that will be retained in the household if you place them from the library will be those relationships in the same household they were saved with (into the library).

UUh this helped SO much, thank you!
I have found the family I wanted under library, and under the "advanced - include mod content" !! However! Sadly it will not let me download her, and even if I do, it will completely erase her apartment and her history/skills. When I try to hit download it says "cannot place household in this game-condition" (i.e. i have to have pressed play to put her somewhere, but then I have to do it all over... ) got any tips here, or does anything sound familiar?
Thanks again!! 🙂

@Phalira123 Hmmm... the phrase "cannot place household in this game-condition" doesn't sound familiar to me exactly as stated. I'm wondering if the condition(s) &/or wording has something to do with a Mod/CC you have, or that was used for the Sim? Is this a Sim in the gallery (publicly available) or in your library (in your own game - local)? I don't have a "under the 'advanced - include mod content'" area in my game's library. However, I never use CC or Mods, so if this has to do with that I'm ignorant.
The only place I see sorting options for Advanced > "Include Custom Content" in my game is in the in-game gallery, where I have the option to tick the box in this image that would then show Custom Content items in the gallery:
I also am not sure what you mean by "(i.e. i have to have pressed play to put her somewhere, but then I have to do it all over... )". In order to place a Sim from the Gallery (public) you to download that household into your Library (local to your game). Then you would need to place the Sim household from your Library onto a lot they can afford in your game save.
1. Select the household from your library, and choose 'Place Household' at the bottom right of the popup:2. Next, navigate to the world you want and choose a lot they can afford to place them on, then follow the prompts to purchase the lot and move in:
3. Now the family lives in that lot/home:
4. To move them out and into Manage Households (which is only within that particular game save and is different from the library or gallery)... Select the household in and choose to evict them in the option at the bottom right of the screen:
(Or enter the lot/play them and have them move out.)
5. Now you will be able to find your Sim household in 'Manage Households' in that game save:From world view click Manage Households (upper right):
and you will now find the household in Manage Households:If you want to save the household from Manage Households in that particular game save you can save them to your Library (as per directions here), then they will be available to be saved to the gallery from there or to be accessed and placed in a different game save.

That's so weird! You didn't create them as part of a limited time trial, did you?
(If not, which I assume not, it sounds like SheriGR has you covered!)
