When I go in paint mode, if I select a color and the first brush, everything work but if I use other brushes they don't work, I can click on the coat but there is no color applied on the furr.

What do you expect to see?
All brushes can be used for painting pets

Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? No

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system?
I didn't notice until a week or two before the werewolves game pack.

I tried to remove all my saves and create a new one to create a pet/werewolf but the problem persist. I tried to be online and offline but it doesn't help. I tried to repair my game but it doesn't help.

  • I have finally make it worked!

I had redownload completely the game and all the DLC. I had deleted all my folders (and saves) to be sure.
Everything works for me now! 🙂

  • HI @HappyAnimals

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

  • Just a heads up for anyone else reading this. If you have an AMD system and are using the d3d9.dll workaround to fix mirrors, the file WILL bug out paint mode for pets and werewolves (you can only use one brush at a certain setting.) you will have to remove the .dll file whenever you want to use the paint mode. I am not sure if there are any workarounds for this at the moment.

  • @crinrict It's pretty much exactly as the OP described it: Only one brush (the first one) works, all the other brushes can be selected, but when attempting to paint with them nothing happens: there isn't even a "preview" of the brush on the sim.
I did double check to make sure that it wasn't any of my cc: removed everything and redownloaded the game through Origin, but I was able to confirm that none of it was the issue. It didn't matter if I had all my cc or none, as long as the .dll was being used paint mode simply refused to function properly.
