Sims 4 Live Mode, Build Mode AND CAS unplayable.

Ever since the latest updates in late 2022 (i think one of them was around the time that the high school stuff was added), my game has been unplayable. Live mode and build mode simply don't work - every time i try to resume a household, start a new one or build a lot - it just takes me back to the Manage Worlds screen. Not only this, but CAS is totally janky now. I can enter CAS, but none of the colour swatches appear on clothes, accessories etc. The eye, hair and skin swatches appear but when you click them, nothing happens... The icons above the sliders and on the Sim Details panel have disappeared to the point where you can't tell what you're clicking on (voice, m/f option etc).

To clarify, I do use mods. I have tried all the routine things that usually resolve bugs. I used the MTS Mod Conflict Detector and removed all mod conflicts and broken CC. I have repaired my game in Origin, uninstalled and reinstalled, i did a factory reset and I even heard that the CAS Columns mod had created bugs so i removed it entirely. No bite with any of these.

The game works perfectly vanilla - but i dont consider the game worth playing without mods so its not an option. I have deleted almost half of my cc at this point and i'm genuinely considering just deleting it and playing Sims 2 instead. There's just something else broken every time they update the game and im super tired of it.

If anybody else has any other suggestions, please shout 🙂 Thanks all

  • @Sarah_eLH1997  You already have the answer: the game works fine without mods or custom content, so the problem is one or more files in your Mods folder.  That doesn't mean you need to play without any of the content, only that you'll need to test everything and remove the broken files.  If you have a lot of content, the 50/50 method can make the process more efficient:

Please keep in mind that more than one of your items may be broken, so finding one doesn't mean everything else is safe to use.

The Mod Conflict Detector is outdated, and even when it wasn't, it didn't pick up conflicts between a mod and the game, only between two or more mods.
