sims 4 not launching after main menu

so im having a really weird issue. the game loads to the main menu, but the sim is like grey and not my sim. ill add a picture so you guys can see what I'm talking about. also every time I try to load a game it just brings me to the residential worlds. also when I create a sim and I give them a name, it automatically changes their name to "Spencer-kim-lewis." I know it so weird and ill add a picture of that to show you guys. I've literally tried everything and I really don't want to start from scratch and delete everything.
