Sims 4 not launching

Hi. I've been having trouble opening my game for an entire day now. I would try to open it through the EA app and the app would close and re-open with no sign of opening the game. The same thing would happen if I tried opening the game from the desktop. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and nothing works. I usually have to wait a few minutes for my game to launch because I have a lot of mods but it's never taken hours to open. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the EA app. I've tried everything can think of.

  • @Reefa101  Did you put your Mods folder back or use the new one the game created?  If you restored your old Mods folder, please remove it again and use the new one instead.

If that's not the issue, download a fresh copy of one mod confirmed working with patch 1.107 (check the mod's documentation) and try only that mod.

  • @Reefa101  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@puzzlezaddict So I'm able to launch the game, but it's not showing any of my DLCs.

Quick update: Nvm. I can still access my DLCs.

@Reefa101  Okay, the next step is sorting through the content in the old user folder.  Start by testing your mods and custom content; you can do so in batches, or use the 50/50 method:

    https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content#The_50.25_Method

Once you've done that, you can transfer the contents of saves and Tray, plus the UserSetting.ini file if you care about login rewards, plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you want to preserve those as well.  The rest can be discarded.

@puzzlezaddict So I've been re-downloading all of my CC and mods instead of just moving them over and that seems to be working when I start up the game to test it.
