Sims 4 Not Opening

Hello! I have been having trouble with the Sims 4 for a while now. I've had the same issue on both Origin and the new EA app. For background, I have a macOS desktop running Sonoma 14.5 with 8 GB of memory and about 50 GB of available storage. I have a decent chunk of CC, but I don't think more than what my computer can manage. I have updated and restarted my computer, updated and restarted the game, uninstalled and re-installed the Sims 4, repaired the game, cleared my cache, etc. I also have a CC manager to make sure all of my CC is up to date and not broken.

Basically, when I press play on the game, I get the famous mac spinning rainbow circle. The game never actually opens and instead the icon gives me the 'Application not responding' message. I have tried force quitting and trying again, but that also doesn't work. Essentially, I can't get the game to open at all and I'm not sure what else to try. Please let me know if anyone has any idea how to fix this so I can continue building in the Sims 🙂

Thanks!

Hello! Thanks for all of this helpful information. I have gone through all the steps again and am still not able to open my Sims. I ran through all of my CC again to make sure that there are no corrupt/broken files, but still no luck. When I add my CC folder by folder (I have my CC organized by creator), Sims will open for each individual folder. However, when I put all of it in together, it refuses to open. My Sims is also super finicky and sometimes won't open even when I have no CC. I'm not sure what else to do, I've triple checked all of my CC, reorganized with a mods manager, repaired and uninstalled/reinstalled my game several times, updated my computer, created a new clean mods folder, etc. and nothing seems to work. Please help if anyone knows what to do and thank you for the suggestions!

Your issue is CC. Every time you move around files and folders in the Mods folder, and move files out, then launch the game, you should be trashing the localthumbcache.package file after closing the game. Every single time.

Moved your thread to the Mods forum for further CC help.
