Sims 4 not working properly after update and turning on cc

I updated my sims 4 a few days ago for the new neighborhood stories update and after loading I turned my cc on as usual and closed the game. I turned it on once again trying to go to the settings to see if everything else was on point. I open the settings and I see the linked life. None of the options in the settings show anything but a blank white screen. When I go to click play, it does nothing but load it. I waited for over 15 minutes for it to do something but nothing happened. Usually it loads up in around 30 seconds so the waiting part was a new thing to me. 

I tried to fix the game through Origin, ended up doing nothing. Tried to also re-download the game and also Origin, nothing. 

How can I try to fix this issue when I can't open settings to turn cc of if that was the main reason it crashed?
