Sims 4 taking forever to launch recently (Mac user)

Hi, the past week or so the Sims 4 has taken forever to launch. Sometimes this occurs when I have a broken mod... but if something is broken, it normally tells me. Most of the time nothing is actually broken. It just takes a good probably 30 minutes to launch the game. It won't even open period for a while. Usually I just look for more cc I want or something while I wait because I thought it would get better. This problems continues to happen... is this normal? Sometimes the game will eventually launch and get to the loading screen. Then it will sit there forever and I will have to hit (command+option+escape) to get the "force quit applications" menu to be able to exit the game - because the game will say "not responding". Please help. I only have 991 mods/cc (I counted to put it here for reference), so should it be this slow? I can list out the creators I am using/ the mods I'm using if need be. Thanks
