Sims 4 unable to launch. Please help!!

Every time I try and play the game, steam opens to prepare for the game to run. It starts running for a little bit, and I see the Sims 4 popping up on Task manager. After a bit of loading, the game will just immediately stop running and close, only for the EA app to open again. I can see the Sims 4 Icon pop up on my taskbar, but it's only for a split second before it closes. I've cleared the cache, app recovery, reinstall, restart and shut down, removed mods. Everything was working fine last night, so I have no idea what could've caused this.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I've followed every troubleshooting step I could find and it's still happening. Worked fine 8 hours ago. It won't run in admin mode or offline, removing mods, reinstalling, nothing is working.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this, I just pray this is a problem on EA's end. I'm getting so frustrated at this point.

I renamed my Sims 4 folder to "Sims 4 backup" and tried again. This time it worked. There was a notice that there is a download incoming. So I guess there was an update? I'll try adding my folders back in one at a time and testing. Hope that helps you, too.

Ooh okay! Can you tell me what steps you did to get this to work??

  • Okay, so I've managed to get the game to launch finally. I moved all my mods to a backup folder and deleted the mods folder and started the game. I've added all my mods back in and while I was doing so I noticed I had an image file buried underneath all my mods, so maybe that could've been it. To be honest I'm not entirely sure, but that's what worked for me.
