Sims 4 won't go into simulation

It's been a week now and, to no prevail on fixing this problem. I've reset the cache and repaired the Sims countless times, I even deleted my households. Basically, the problem is that I can't go into the household and play or build. Instead, it'll just take me to the maps again! I tried getting rid of my most recent mods but hadn't installed any new mods for a while. I really don't know what to do anymore! Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks 🙂

  • @52yi0cuz2ead Given we've had three game updates in the last two weeks, older mods/CC are your more likely problem. A huge number have been updated because they were broken, and many have not yet been updated. See Broken/Updated Mods for a list of many of them.

If you still have issues after using the lists there to remove mods and update them (remember to delete old version when you update and to delete the localthumbcache file), you should test vanilla (with no mods or CC).

Okay, my game does work in vallina, and I went through my mods. But when I was finished it kept on saying an error has accured and I should restart the game.

@52yi0cuz2ead If you've done the updates of what's updated, your next step is to add the non-updated mods back in batches to find which ones of those are broken. If you remove any during testing, delete localthumbcache again. You can use these instructions as a method: 50-50

I'm not able to do the 50-50 method because I wouldn't have enough space to fully do the method. But, I do have a few files that have X's on them. Could I just get rid of those files? Here's an example:

@52yi0cuz2ead That's not a meaningful thing in your folder. Try doing this to test without affecting how much space is used because there will never be two copies of a file:

    1. Drag the full Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache
    2. Start the game to create a new Mods folder
    3. Move (not copy) a batch to test into the game's Mods folder. Be sure to include dependencies like XML Injector Lot 51 Core Library (if you use that one, update it first)
    4. If those all work, move (not copy) everything but dependency mods to a new folder on your desktop called something like "These work". If they don't all work, move (not copy) half to a new folder on your desktop called "batch test" or similar. Delete localthumbcache either way. Once a batch if cleared as working, move (not copy) the fine ones to "These work". You can keep a list of the ones you have to delete if you want to look for updates
    5. Repeat as needed.

If you label folders clearly, you can do all this without ever having two copies of a file so you won't need added disk space.
