Sims become babies after I save and exit the game.

My current game is set to normal lifespan. And I have a family of around 50 generations, which I have played for almost half year. After I update the game, I would have Sims in my controlled households randomly become babies. Their appearance change, and they relationships are cleaned. I even had elders (grandparents) become babies and lost connections with their kids/relatives. So it messed up my whole family tree.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

  • @thisntjaneOh my goodness, I'm sorry this has happened to your game. The team are aware of the unwanted aging effects of the latest update and are promising a patch to fix it. In their statement they've said they can see what is happening so I think perhaps it's just a waiting game until the fix is released. I'm sure it will be ASAP.
I'm not touching my gameplay until the fix is released and have warned players I know to be cautious.
I don't think there is anything you can do to reverse this unless you have a back up save. I'm on console and always run a back up after losing Sims in the past. Some players Sims became elders or died so it's caused some devastation.
Can you specify if you are on PC or console because if you are on PC another player may possibly have different advice for you.

Looking at the teams advice it looks like one thing to do is disable ageing in Game Options, at least for now. Then you might be able to age your Sims back up with birthdays. You mention you lost links, you may be able to link them again in CAS if they are in the same household.
    Good luck.

@simsplayer818 Thanks! I am currently using PC (mac version). I actually saved it twice after the update so I don't know if I can still find the old save...

You are right, I really should have waited for them to fix it before I play it...
  • @crinrict Thank you! I mainly use MCCC, wonderful whims, preschool, and some food mods. I updated all of them after the update. I don't think it's the Mod issue but I can double check.

@thisntjane It's taking a lot of willpower for me not to play mine. I haven't been able to check out any new features and I did really want the High School pack too but I'll buy it in a few months when it's hopefully all patched up.
But my game already had real issues such as gameplay and crashing problems and I don't want to risk anything bigger happening to it. I've only just spent the last year rebuilding mine after losing it all. I hoped this update was going to fix it's recent problems but alas no.

@simsplayer818 I'm really curious. Have you seen anyone on console report this ?

@thisntjane: Could you try these steps:

    1. Backup your save and keep it somewhere save
    2. Go into the game and export any settings some of the bigger mods offer to be able to export so you can import them again.
    3. Move the mods folder to the desktop
    4. Move all folders that come from a mod in your saves folder to the desktop
    6. Delete the localthumchache file
    7. Start your save and see if the issue persists.

@crinrict No I've not spotted this anywhere else yet. If I do I'll let you know.
My friends who play on Xbox Series S like me aren't currently playing it, like me and I've not seen it elsewhere on here yet thank goodness. What a horrendous thing to happen to someone's game!
