My sims won’t wash dishes no matter what household I visit, they just pick them up and put them down again. I’ve started a completely new household in a brand new house and it’s the same thing. The issue started after the December 2023 patch update, the option to assign sink type does not appear for me. Not sure what’s going on.
(I’m a pc player with mods).
In addition to what @crinrict said and since you said you play with mods; do you have any CC sinks? An older CC item could be blocking the new option to assign sinks. If you do have any, try testing without mods and CC. If you don't have the problem then, then you'll need to test your mods and CC to find and remove the problem file(s).

Thanks for the response, no hidden dishes around and it’s affecting every household, even brand new ones in brand new houses having made their first meal. Will definitely test without the mods.
@Shan1703 Hi! Most of the mods that were causing this were specifically about sinks, so start with those. This happened at patch 1.103 when they added new sink coding, so lots are listed obsolete here as well: previous Broken/Updated Mods list .
This problem started for me about the end of December 2023. Sims simply put dirty dishes back onto the table or a cabinet.
No mods at all related to sinks in any way. The only work around I have found is to drop a dishwasher into every household I play.
@shorty943p Have you tested without mods at all, and in other lots?

Yes to your question. This is in all games, in all worlds and households.
It's not that they try to wash dishes in the bathroom, or laundry, they simply don't wash the dishes at any sink. They will only use a dishwasher.
