Sims won't load after CAS

When I try to start a new game, I get all the way through creating a new Sim and then it does not start the game. When I try to load a game, it just loads the worlds and says I'm starting with 0 funds and all lots are labeled as public so I cannot start with any existing families, load any of my created sims, and I cannot start with one that I have made.

  • @GaHedgehog  This is typically a mod-related issue.  So please test with no mods or custom content at all, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.  If the game is back to normal, you can start adding back your mods and cc and continuing to test.

Hey! I deleted all of my mods and the game worked perfectly for a few days! Now my game updated and it went right back to what it was doing before. I haven't downloaded any of the mods back, and I was wondering if this could be an issue not related to mods? Idk what's going on with my game, just feels like one issue after another with it the past week or so ☹️

@GaHedgehog  Does this happen with a new save or just your existing one(s)?  What about if you load a backup version of an existing save?  Here's how to do that:

Please also repair the game.  With Origin, open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  With the EA App, open your game library, hover over the Sims 4 icon, click the three dots, and select Repair.

It does it with all my saved games and when I try to create a new game. After repairing and trying to load a backup version like you suggested it is still doing the same thing. I don't want to lose my games that I have saved, but would it be easier to uninstall and reinstall everything? It seems like nothing else is working

@GaHedgehog  There's no need to uninstall and reinstall, at least not yet.  Instead, lease move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just test out a new save.

If you see the same issue, let me know whether your computer runs Windows or macOS, and if Windows, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

If the new save loads properly, you can transfer one of your old saves, but nothing else yet, from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.  You don't need to save your progress, so don't worry about the effects of missing mods or custom content.

  • we’re u ever able to figure it out? currently having the same problem:/
