Hi @LeFarrah. Some things to check out to find when it *doesn't* happen:
When you took mods out, did you take out the whole Mods folder, including CC, and delete the file called localthumbcache? If so, try this:
Drag the whole Sims 4 folder to your desktop. Start the game then exit. Copy your save file (not the folder) into the *new* Saves folder that the game just created. Now see what happens.

@luthienrising Having this same issue and did the file refresh and still will not fix problem. I don't use any mods or CC. Been trying to troubleshoot and fix this issue for a month and a half and have searched everywhere for ways to fix this and nothing has helped the issue. Making the game unplayable and I'm trying to not have to uninstall and lose years of saved content. TIA

@mickeynichole13 I split your other posts off to Game Issues . Please use that thread. This part of the AHQ forums is for people who do use Mods and CC.
Also, though, try a Game Repair in the EA App. Some of your files might not be the current versions.
