I have exactly the same problem. I did remove all mods and cc and the issues still persists. It's the horses themselves.
@toreshinbo Are you using the more traits mod usually ? Are you still having issues with this ?

Updating the traits mod, worked for me 🙂 Also deleted cache, cachewebkit, localthumbcache.package and avatarcache.package files from the game file folder. All working now as it's supposed to work!
