There is not "Knock the door" interaction

I have 2 problems with my new house that I just build at "Admiral's Wreckage" lot of Mua Pel'am neighborhood in Sulani.

1. There is not "Knock the door" interaction any doors at that house that have my sims character live in

2. When there are other sims come to the house, they don't show up in front of mailbox but show up at its backyard (don't have a fence. just the wall and trees)

  • Sorry for a slow update. I know the root cause. That interaction is at the another outside door that is in front of the outside door that I want it to be the front door.

    @thsecmaniac

The Knock on door is only on lots that you visit.

Sims will always come to the designated front of a lot. Where the mailbox is placed is irrelevant. You could move it to the front of the lot though so the mail person doesn't have to trek from the front to where it is placed.

  • @thsecmaniac Hello!  As @jpkarlsen said, sims only get the "knock on door" option when visiting another lot, not their own.  When you're in live mode, click on the exterior doors to see which one is set as the "front door".

Whenever sims come to visit, they will always go to the door that is set as the "front door" to knock, regardless of where the mailbox is placed.

@thsecmaniac I'm not sure I understand.  You split some sims from one household into a new one.  Then you played that new household and when they visit the first household, they don't get an option to knock on the door.  Is that correct?

The old household visit the new household and there is not that interaction.

@thsecmaniac That's so strange.  I tested this by having Zoe and Gavin visit j. and Mitchell at the new house; meaning the original household visited the new one.  They had the option to knock on door.  Do you have any mods in your game?

Yes. But all of them are about Sims not about Build mode or or the interaction about Build mode.

@thsecmaniac Okay.  Please test your game without mods.  Move your entire mods folder to the desktop or an external drive for safekeeping.  Delete the localthumbcache.package file located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder.  Then open your game to see if the problem is still there.  If you get the door interactions without mods then you will want to test the mods a little at a time.  I suggest creating a new game for testing, so you don't accidentally change your current game.

If you have a lot of mods/CC, the 50/50 method works best.

    1. Divide your mods/CC in half (maybe make a folder on your desktop to hold the half you're taking out).

    2. Delete the localthumbcache.package file again, before opening the game with the half you're testing,

    3. If the game works with that half, test with the other half. (Again, delete that cache file before opening)

    4. Once you know which half is causing the issue, divide those in half and test again (delete the cache file again).

    5. Repeat the process until you find the culprit.

  • Hi!

I've had the problem where there is no "knock on the door" option available. Turns out the lot I was visiting was saved as a rental. Maybe check that.

    I hope it helps!
