TS4 - Everything works, but one household

I've spent the past two hours trying to understand wth is happening to my save, maybe you can assist this poor soul.

Basically the game loads normally, the save loads normally, if I try to play any household in world all the households loads normally, except ONE.

It's the family I'm playing atm, and if I try to load it the game gets stuck in an endless loading screen. Not even hard-closing the game works, I have to shut it down via task manager.

I've tried repairing my game, to check/remove the mods, to search online for solutions, nothing. Plus, tbh I don't think the save is compromised, given that I have no problem accessing other households, and everything else works.

I think the culprit is the baby. The last thing I did before the game started farting was ageing up the baby, and jumping in CAS directly from live mode to edit him. When I was done I tried to go back in live mode and couldn't, I got stuck in the loading screen. For some reason my game didn't like that editing at all.

Do you have any suggestion, knowledge, solution, ANYTHING, that could help me? Thanks in advance!

  • So, I did some tests and now I'm 100% sure the editing caused the issue.

First I tried to age up the baby without editing him. I saved and went to Manage Worlds, loaded the family again, it worked. So it wasn't the ageing up.

Then I tried to edit the baby (now a toddler), whilst being careful to repeat exactly the same actions I did right before the issue occurred, and to save and try to load the family again after each action, to see which one specifically caused the issue.

I changed the todd name, his clothes, and I fixed his skintone. All these alterations didn't bother the game one bit.

The final one did: I wanted a sneak peek of the kid as a YA, so I aged him up briefly just to have a look, then I aged him back down before exiting CAS. I couldn't load the family after that, so that was it.

I have no clue why it happened. I'm a Legacy player and I must have done the same ageing up and down in CAS dozens of times. Either is a new issue triggered by the last update, or is because it's a family of spellcasters. Spellcasters can magically stop the ageing process, so technically it's possible to have same-age parents and children, the game didn't give me the little yellow warning icon as it usually does with human families. But it must have triggered something nonetheless.

    So there you have it.

@YuleNorwood There is no Sims 4 save file edit that I know of. It seems once a save gets corrupted THAT save is gone. Did you try loading a previous save? Here is a link on had to restore a previous save - restore previous save

Since I posted I tried few things.

I tried loading other residents of the same world (in case it was the location to be glitchy. It wasn't,  it loaded fine.

I tried recovering an earlier version of the save (pre-ageing of the baby). Also it loaded fine. I aged up the baby again, went in CAS via Manage Household this time, when I exited CAS and tried to play the household the curse of the endless loading screen struck again.

It's that damn baby, I'm telling you.

Now I need to be off PC for a while, but later I'll try to see what happens if I age up the baby without editing him. Because is one of those two things at this point: the ageing up, or the editing.

My money are on the ageing, tho. We had so many problems with ageing and lifespans lately.
