Unable to pay bills on PS4

My Sims' bills across all my households have been unpaid for over a month now. There is no Pay Bills option on the mailbox; I've tried destroying and rebuilding it in many locations around the house and in the house. There is also no Pay Bills option available on the phone or the computer (popup message on "browse the web" says "pay your bills"). The power is out in nearly every house, so that means definitely no option to pay bills via the computer even if there was one. So now most of my time playing the game is spent with unhappy Sims trying to repair their house all the time. But the Sims are still going to work and making money.

I've also tried the cheat code "household.autopay_bills true" after enabling the cheat mode first (it does say "cheat mode enabled"), but that does not seem to have an effect at all.

Also tried to mark my household as "unplayed" and then played it to try to clear it up.

Any suggestions to try? I may have to stop playing the game, as it's not so fun just trying to repair everything with limited options due to power outages. Why aren't the cheat codes working? Or how do I know they are working?

@mama_williams742 Don't really have any ideas atm but could you try a new save for testing purposes to see if it's related to your save game or a general issue ?
  • @crinrict I've tried a few new saves already, tried deleting the Sims4 altogether and redownloading it, tried bringing in a new Sim into the household, and nothing seems to work. Seems to be a general issue. Maybe just with playing on PS4? Hoping a new update can fix this.

There's a couple of things I can suggest to work round the problem. Do you have Eco Living? If so you could add energy generating items from that pack, wind turbines, solar panels for example. You'll need a few to generate enough. In your lot traits, set your home to eco traits such as Natural Well.

You can also try and live Off the Grid and in build mode replace items with Functional Off the Grid items, including laptops.

Another suggestion is to edit a Rental Lot and add a computer. Send your Sim on vacation and see if you get the option to pay your bills on the vacation home computer.

Edit: I attach an Off the Grid guide here for you. I'd maybe test this on a new household on a different lot. I like Sulani in particular for Off Grid life if you have Island Living. My Sims often pick a deserted island and have a tent and a camp fire there. They use the waterfall as a shower, use the local amenities (until they have enough points to get the Steel Bladder trait usually from the fishing/curator aspirations) and fish/forage for food sources. You could test it this way and then try going back to the grid life and see if that changes anything for you.

I'd also try an existing family like the Goths or Landgrabbs for example and see if the same thing happens to their household.
