What troubles me the most about all of this was the extreme reaction by many creators. It's clear that they do not have a plan B for when TS4 is finally over. This is their income source and it really shouldn't be. They don't own the content, it belongs to EA. I don't want to get into it about "how hard it is to create a mod" or how "I created the mesh from scratch". That's all fine and dandy but once you put it into the game? You are using EA's resources and therefore, it belongs to EA.
Gah, this topic is like walking into a land mine field!
I'm trying so hard not to step on any toes or upset anybody.
However, I make mods for my own personal use. Package mods are ridiculously simple to make. I don't understand the need for "early access" to test the mods. When I was making mods, I just had my Simming friends test them in their games.... for free. Then I'd release them to the wild once they said it was all clear. I stopped making mods because EA kept breaking them. Now I barely have any mods and no CC in my game.
The things that irks me the most and really makes me see red? Is lots.... LOTS!!! behind pay walls. There are some creators that even put them behind years long pay walls. I'm so baffled by that. I'm even more baffled by people who pay for these things. There are so many amazing builders on the gallery, who share their awesome builds for free. Why pay? Sure, donate to help a simmer out. But pay? What?
