When I go to open the Sims, it opens the EA app instead

So I started playing maybe a month or two before the most recent update and I really enjoyed downloading mods and custom content to add to my game. I even bought more storage on my laptop to be able ...

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.
