Whenever I save my progress, exit the game and reopen, my progress is lost

This even happens if I enter CAS mode after saving, which is crazy.

This has been happening for a couple days now. Nothing I do fixes it. I tried moving the original folder to a different place, starting a new save, recovering previous ones… nothing helps. After each fix I tried, I added random items and saving them and they would stay - but anything beyond that just disappears.

I have an apartment that I built and decorated, and while managing worlds, you can see all my changes intact. After entering the actual household, it’s like they where never there.

Please help!

  • neutralmom  To be clear, does this happen in a new save in a clean Sims 4 folder, with no mods or custom content, and no content added from the Gallery or your own library?

And are you saying that some changes within the save (like placing furniture) are or appear to be saved, while other details do not?  That's different than the entire save reverting to its previous state, of course, and has distinct causes.

I'm about to test it with no CC on!

And yes, even if they're CC. But they do not save past a point, apparently. So I tried adding counters (the random objects) around and it was fine, they stayed, but anything past that point - gone. As I said before, I have an apartment that I decorated, and while managing worlds, you can see all my changes intact from the preview perspective, but once you enter... well, everything above happens.

Just tried it without CC at all - it goes back to the same point as before, without all the new changes (excluding of course the CC).

  • neutralmom  Did you try a new save with no cc?  If not, please do so now.  I'd like to know whether a new save is affected even if it's never been exposed to mods or cc.

The other detail I'm trying to figure out is whether some changes apply or not.  For example, say you load the save, and it's in save state A.  You make some changes and save your progress; this is save state B.  You make more changes and save again, creating save state C.  Then you quit the game and reload.

When you load that save again, do you see save state A, or B, or C, or something in between, e.g. mostly save state A but with some changes you made between A and B?  The reason I want to nail this down is that seeing some changes, but not others, strongly suggest a corrupt save.  There's no good reason that some changes should be applied but others not between the times you've saved.  However, if the entire save state C disappears, that could simply be a syncing or permissions issue.

Okay, it is what I feared... the mods.

I followed your instructions with doing the save with no CC, went through the A, B and C stages and everything checked out.

I'm guessing the next step would be to 50/50 the mods. It's going to take forever, but I will definitely keep this updated in case anyone has the same issue.

However, if you have more input and/or advice, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thank you!
