why can't I play with characters?

@ifellinmytoliet  When you say your sims just sat there, what exactly do you mean?  If you click on an object and select an action, for example click on a computer and choose "surf the web" or similar, what happens?  Do the sims respond eventually, or not at all, and if not, do you see them doing anything else instead?

I mean I made 2 households and couldn’t play I kind of just had 2 households

Where are the sims?  Are they on a lot?  Are they frozen and won't move?  If you click on them or click on an object on the lot, do you get any options?

Hello!  I realize this can be a bit frustrating, especially if you're new to the game, but the questions asked by @puzzlezaddict @CGrant56 and @Coley666 are to help diagnose the problem.  Since we can't be there with you, it would be great if you could write out the specific steps you've taken so far.  Maybe something like this...

1. I clicked the new game button in the main menu

2. I created a household

3. I moved them into a lot

4. (whatever happened next and so on)

Again, this is to help us better understand your current situation.
