Hi everyone,
I bought sims 4 yesterday and since then have been trying to get it to work. I am using it through origin.
I find that sims 4 crashes after a couple minutes of play. Weirdly I seem to be able to create a sim with no problems, it is just when I get into the game it eventually crashes.
The time it stays open seems to be increasing as well (not sure why?), but I can still play no more than 10 minutes.
All my graphics are set to low and I don't have any add ons or custom things.
these are my specs:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
memory: 10 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB
I don't have OS catalina so I'm unsure if that is the problem, I also can't seem to update to the newer Mojave (i have mojave 10.14.3) - it only lets me update to Catalina.
I do get crash reports but i have no idea what they mean.
I have been through forums and done most of what has been suggested but nothing seems to help.
What could be the problem? And is there a way to fix it or is it just my laptop ☹️

Hi! I sadly don't have an answer but this is happening to me too, on the exact same Mac model (only difference: memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, the rest is the exact same, even the macOS). I've talked to EA twice already and nothing. I've also done everything I could think of, repair and uninstall, even uninstalling Origin. When did your problems start? Mine started after the Legacy Edition came out, I started the game as usual and it crashed (no error message) and it took me to Origin to download Legacies, which is weird cause according to both EA (they confirmed to me yesterday that this model supports the normal game) and Apple, our MacBooks should support Metal. I can't get any gameplay done, CAS works just fine but as soon as I go to gameplay/build mode it crashes with no error message. I've tried playing with both the Legacy Edition and the normal game and it happens no matter what version!
Edit: Oops just saw that you bought it yesterday!! Sorry!! I've had mine since 2015 and it only started happening a few weeks/months ago.
They did try to help!! But nothing worked as my game still doesn’t work. My game doesn’t work for very long, probably a minute in gameplay, create a sim is the only place it doesn’t crash. If you do update your OS tell me if it helped! I’m kinda scared of updating mine as the only time I did it (from Yosemite to High Sierra) it broke my laptop and I had to get it fixed by professionals.
