Deactivate "Split View"?
- beeper181227 days agoNew Novice
Hey. Did you get this sorted? I’m having the same issue on my MacBook and it’s made gameplay impossible. I tried retina settings, split view isn’t an option on mine, tried full screen windowed etc. nothing helps!!
When did this appear for you? You must have changed a setting in System Settings > Desktop & Dock or maybe you hooked your Mac up to an external display at some point?
What are your settings? Please post a screenshot of this part of System Settings > Desktop & Dock.

Hi. Thanks so much for the reply. I honestly am not sure if anything has been changed. Mine currently look like the attached screenshot. I've done two updates to my OS. It's currently on Tahoe 26.3.1 and it's been doing this windowed thing for about two months now. I haven't connected it to an external display either. it just showed the grey title bar one day and it hasn't gone away since. The game settings are all as should be which is the fullscreen, retina etc. I've changed them to see and then changed them back and it's still there.
Thanks :) Could you change the settings I've put a red box around so they match mine. Then restart your Mac then load the game and see if you still have the issue?

Bluebellflora it's still stuck with the grey title bar 😩😩
😔 Trash the Options.ini file in the Sims 4 folder then try again....

Bluebellflora still nothing😞
Very strange. Do you have Game Mode enabled? https://support.apple.com/en-gb/105118

Bluebellflora omg I thought we were onto something with that… it was enabled but now I did Game mode off and it’s STILL there. Even with it possibly being a MacOs thing, I don’t understand why it won’t go away no matter what I do!!
Yep, it is odd and I haven't managed to repro on my Mac. Could you zip up your TS4 folder and upload it somewhere and PM me the download link? I'd like to test it in my game.

Thanks to beeper1812 troubleshooting with me we’ve found a workaround:
- make sure Sims 4 and EA App are closed
- create a new user account on your Mac
- login to the new user account
- launch the game in that account, the game screen should be back to normal
- close the game
- login to your usual Mac user account and copy the TS4 user data folder that contains your saves etc. onto an external drive or copy into the Shared folder
- login to the new user account
- trash the Sims 4 folder the game created in Documents > Electronic Arts during step 4 and copy your usual TS4 folder into the Electronic Arts folder
- launch the game. All your saves and other user data should be loaded and the display issue still resolved
