I keep pressing command + shift + c but the bubble won't appear for me to type in the cheat codes. Does anyone know whats going on? I don't have any external apps on. Please let me know, it's getting pretty boring without the cheats for money!

I think it should be CTRL, Shift + C

This is my first time using any sims game on a mac. I have Sims 4, and the cheat box will not open with the code command+shift+c
- crinrict10 years agoHero+
Try ctl-shift-c instead.

- What's your Mac Model ?
- Are you using a laptop keyboard or an external one ?
- What's your firmware version (sorry, don't know where you would find that info) ?
- Anonymous10 years ago
It's a macbook pro, early 2011 and I am using the laptop's own keyboard (i.e. not an external one)
And i'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
I played sims 3 on this laptop before and had no problems with bringing up the cheat console. i've gone through multiple solutions and tried many suggested tips but none seem to be working.
I've tried using both command and ctrl when trying to bring up the cheat console.
The only that I've accomplished is taking a screen capture (I believe ctrl + c does it 😕mileytongue: ) but gaaaadammit i just want the motherlode cheat ☹️
I know everyones trying to problem solve so thanks for trying

On my mac control shift c works.
- Anonymous10 years ago
Hey I had the same problem if you hold cmd+ctrl+shift+c

It has always been in all versions of the Sims no matter the platform Control + Shift + C.
If this is not working for you, then you need to hook up an external keyboard or perhaps change your keyboard configuration.
- 10 years agoIf you want money I have a solution!!!
Go into the community gallery and search up paintings then place a room or how much you want and then sell the paintings! It takes longer then just typing "motherlode" but until they fix this it's the best thing to do I just got more than 200 thousand dollars just from paintings I didn't even do!- Anonymous9 years ago
Wait, how do you do that - wheres the community gallery??

Using the cheat console is exactly the same on a Mac as it is in Windows. Hold down CTRL, Shift and C. Whereas we normally substitute the CMD key for the CTRL key, this is not the case in The Sims 4 (or The Sims 3). If this is not working for you check your keyboard configuration in System Preferences, have you changed it in the past? Have you changed something in System Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard? Have you changed the Modifier keys? The cheat console is coded into the game, there is no reason why it shouldn't work unless the user has changed some settings or has software installed which may be conflicting with the keyboard settings. Check whether your CTRL key is faulty or broken. If all else fails:
- Try plugging in or bluetoothing another keyboard to your Mac. You may have a broken CTRL key(s).
- Check for 3rd party software that has changed the keyboard mapping, e.g. - screenshot software or video capture software.
- 3rd party software that is conflicting with the game. Close down any other apps that are running.
- User changes to the modifer keys in System Preferences. Has someone used your Mac under your user account and changed something without you knowing? Go into System Preferences > Keyboard > Modifier Keys and set another key as the CTRL key
- The Input Source in System Preferences > Keyboard has been changed to a different language. You could also try adding another language to see if this resolves the issue.
You can also find this information in the Sims 4 stickied help thread at the top of this Mac forum. It is exactly the same for Sims 3.

Yes, I've benn having the same exact problem, and I would really like to get money for my sims. So can you find another way for it to work. Also when I press COMMAND+SHIFT+C all it does is takes screen shots of my sims, so I'd really like to get 50,000 simoleons.

You'd like someone to find another way to make it work for you? Maybe if you pressed the right key combination, CTRL, Shift, C, you'd have better luck. The Accepted Solutions on threads in AHQ are always worth reading, as are the other posts in the thread 🙂 - Anonymous8 years agoHave you solved this issue?
I bought sims 2 for Mac cheat console didn't come up so I got bored and got the sims 3. The cheat console came up no problem for it. Now I just got the sims 4 off origin and I'm having the same problem. No cheat console , just screenshots.
No I don't have other apps running , keyboard Not broken and nothing is using those commands.- Bluebellflora8 years agoHero+
If you're getting screenshots of your Mac it will be because you are pressing CMD, not CTRL.
You don't need other apps to be running to affect this. Just installing software which changes the default keyboard settings is enough.

We have a whole thread dedicated to the cheat console which I'm moving this one too 🙂 Please read the second post on the first page which is the Accepted Solution and has lots of reasons as to why you may be having problems. First of all it would probably help to use the correct keys - CTRL, Shift and C 😛

Hi all, I have a mac as well and after looking for solutions to accessing the cheat console I finally had success! For the past year, I gave up and was using a bluetooth keyboard but I have FINALLY found a way to use the internal keyboard! See steps below!
1. Go to System Preferences
2. Select Keyboard
3. Choose Modifier Keys
4. For the COMMAND key function select CONTROL from the drop down menu
Please be aware that if you are someone who likes to take screenshots while playing the sims you will have to change the function of this key back to command after accessing the cheat console. For me, I rarely take screenshots and it just takes up precious storage on my laptop so this was the way to go. Hope this helps everyone!

- Anonymous7 years ago
i know to use cheats but i dot know how to activate them
- Tremayne42607 years agoHero
Hold down the Control key, the letter C key and the Shift key at the same time. This will bring up the cheat code box in the upper left hand corner. From there you can enter the cheat commands. To exit the Cheat box, hold down the same keys to close it.

it doesnt work

so everyone is saying Command + Shift + C, but mine just doesn't work. BECAUSE IT'S NOT FREAKING COMMAND YOU SHOULD PRESS!! try Control + Shift + C. mine works!
I've been pressing those commands and still not working
- 3 years ago
Control-shift-C *does* *not* bring up the cheat window. The only way to bring it up is to go into your Mac's system preferences, click "Keyboard" and then "Modifier Keys" and then select "control" from the pop-up menu beside the "command" key setting, then use shift-command-C in the game. I feel like I just wasted 30 minutes of my life downloading The Sims 4 onto my iMac.

You have to press shift, ctrl and c
it always works on my Macbook air and only game pack I have is pets and dogs so I think it should work on your computer too
