I wonder if any of the people insisting control-shift-C works have ever actually sat in front of a Mac and tried to play the game. My control key works in other contexts. My keyboard is set to US English. There is nothing wrong or unusual with my keyboard setup.

No need to wonder, I’ve played on several different Macs running OS X 10.8 and later since the game was released on macOS in 2015 and it has never been CMD, Shift and C, always CTRL, Shift and C.
Sometimes users report CTRL, Shift and C doesn’t work for them but after troubleshooting it has always been down to the individual setup, or a broken CTRL key, or the cursor being in the search field, or one of several other possible reasons. The game is set to recognise the CTRL key, not the CMD key.

I found that I had to go to Keyboard in System Preferences and put a check mark by "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys." Now control-shift-C works. I'm sorry I was so unpleasant.
