On your Mac go into Applications > Utilities and open the Terminal app. Copy this search command at the command prompt and hit enter/return. After a while it will finish the search. You will know when it is finished because the command prompt will reappear. Copy and paste the results into a post here please:
find ~ -type d -name "*The Sims 4*" 2>/dev/null
I suspect your issue is most probably iCloud but this will confirm.

Just to clarify, the Gallery is online. Anything uploaded there would not be affected by this. What you're referring to is your in-game Library.
