I'm having the same issue.
- Operating System: Big Sur 11.0.1
- Mac model: MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
- Processor: Apple M1 Chip
- Memory (RAM): 16 GB
- Graphics: Apple M1 Chip
I'm also having an issue with audio crackling when playing the game, which started before this update but is still occurring after updating. Audio crackling only occurs in the game.

Hello, I have the same specs as you but how do you get more memory? I have 8, is there a way to add more?

The new M1 chip uses unified memory meaning that the ram is a part of the CPU/GPU chip. Since it’s a part of the chip the only way to get more is to buy a model with more ram, no way to upgrade later unfortunately.

You get around this a little bit by changing you audio in game options I don’t think sims 4 works well with dual stereo speaker so trying to turn that stuff off
