Been on loading screen for 2 hourss

Hey guys! i never used this before but hope you can help: i was building a house in, sims 4, for like 5 hours and then when i saved the game it was on the loading screen way longer than usual. Fast forward its been 2hours of just the green thingy spinning, music playing, and tips going on. typically only takes me 5seconds for the game to save or for any loading screen to be done so idk what this is. Also i play on mac. seems like i will have to restart but i know i will lose all my progess, if there is another way please help.
